Thank you for a detailed breakdown of cyber related interaction with the DIS. And I also noticed the need to maintain or retain IP. Assuming a Canadian sovereign cloud could be established for DND/CAF, how would the dissemination of intelligence or highly confidential military operations data occur. I would expect that Canada shares information with NORAD and prescribed continental defence with US counterparts but would hopefully keep other highly secret information separate. Sorry, that may not make sense.

On the cloud matter, could Canada cooperate with European initiatives to establish their own non-US sovereign cloud.

Even if there are seperate infrastructures using different tech, they still use the same network protocols and technology so it's about physical, virtual, legal, and many other controls.

There are ways to move information outside of classified networks through transfer points and there are encrypted means to communicate between classified systems. Everything is pretty compartmentalized and secret networks cannot be accessed from the open web.

It can vary on a lot depending on having the right technology to maintain encryption and protocols for security. There can be issues with interoperability, which is a big issue within NATO, but DND/CAF tenda to put a priority in ensuring interoperability with the United States.

Long story short, straight info sharing usually comes down to encryption. When you're talking in operations it can get messy with command and control interoperability between different countries.
